Synthetic Musks
These are artificially manufactured scents, mimicking natural scents extracted from the musk deer.
The following three are restricted in use by 76/768/EEC, the EU Cosmetics Directive.
- Synthetic musk Ambrette (CAS 83-66-9)
- Synthetic musk Xylene (CAS 81-15-2)
- Synthetic musk Ketone (CAS 81-14-1)
They are bio accumulative, both in the environment and in fatty tissue; and are reprotoxic.
Before using any cosmetics or fragrances in textile products, check for compliance with the EU Cosmetics Directive.
